Happy 100th Day!

Thursday was our 100th day of school and we had a jam-packed day of fun!!  It all started with the class making and wearing a t-shirt decorated with 100 somethings.....they are always really creative.  We had a first grade fashion show in the cafetorium.  This kids did a fabulous job walking the runway.

 

The rest of our day was filled with eight different activities that the students rotated through.

They did cup stacking with 100 cups

Matched 100 Hershey kisses on the Hundreds chart

Used 100 pattern blocks to make a picture

Made a gumball machine with 100 dots

Counted by 10s on an ice cream cone

We ended the day by making a '100 Trail Mix'.  The students had a variety of snack things to choose from.  They had to get 10 of 10 different items.  They used the mats to help them keep track of how many items they had.  Delicious!!

100 days & counting...

On Monday we reached our big milestone in first grade - the 100th Day of School.  It's a pretty big celebration and we took full advantage of having fun with it all day long.

 He used his 100 marshmallows to make a dinosaur (notice the shirt.....I see a theme :-)

This year I used something new, stations from Cara Carroll.  They were so much fun!  We had eight different stations to rotate through and they were all great at practicing and using the number 100.

Finally at the end of the day we had our T-shirt fashion show.  This was a fabulous way to end the day.  I put on a little 'fashion show' music from YouTube and the kiddos get to dance their way around the room to show off their T-shirt creation.  They did such a great job!

And clearly, great minds think alike :-)

100 Days of School

We have made it through 100 days of school, folks!  It's a pretty big milestone in first grade and we did a ton to celebrate!

To start the day off my students worked on writing 100 different words.  They loved getting to move around the room to see and write different words.  They worked on these little booklets all throughout the day :-)

Next, we made 100th Day hats.  They had to decorate their hats with one hundred things.  I set up four different stations around the room where students rotated through dot markers, stamp markers, mini stickers and sequins.  When they finished I had them count out their groups of ten to 100.  

 I love that they were helping each other count!

After that was the most exciting part of our 100th Day celebration . . . the fashion show.  This was absolutely hysterical and the kids had so much fun.  I laid out a red carpet (made from red butcher paper) and put on some fashion show music.

The kids had all made t-shirts at home with 100 things on them and this was their chance to show of their design.  

 

Even the teachers got in on the fun!

In the afternoon we took the numbers 1-0-0 and turned them into something else.  Their ideas were great, of course.  We had everything from a lawnmower to a snowman to a dinosaur.  They really came up with some creative ways to use the numbers!

 

Overall it was a great 100th Day Celebration!
